MY IDEA FOR THE MEGA PROJECT

The most amazing experience that I will be having in my fellowship is the “Mega Project” and now its time to propose my idea about the mega project.

My idea for the mega project!!!!

The problem which I have identified while looking around myself is that many of the house women are skilled in stitching and knitting skills, but unfortunately there is no proper platform for these women to show and sell their skills.

In order to gain an insight about this problem, I interviewed three house women who are skilled in stitching and knitting and asked them if they want such a platform where they can sell their clothes and sweaters at a good price.

The first woman, whom I interviewed was my mother. Also I want to mention that this idea came into my mind because of her. So I asked her if she wanted to sell her kurtis and sweaters to the potential buyers willing to pay a good price. She was very excited about this plan and agreed to my idea.

The second woman which I interviewed was my neighbor Nosheen Baji who is also good at stitching. She also felt that the idea is great but she showed her concern that what if the buyer did not pay the price or in other words what if she would trap in a scam.

Her concern was valid and urged me to think in that perspective also. So after brain storming I realized that there must be a website where such women can show the pictures of their hand-made kurtis and sweaters, from which buyers can purchase but buyers should have to pay half of the price in advance before delivery and the remaining half after delivery. Hence there will be a kind 50/50 trust relationship between buyers and sellers.

I also visited the women pages and groups on facebook such as “soul sisters” and realized that many of the women are in search of hand made unique and beautiful clothes at reasonable prices.

So after all the feedback and interviews I shaped my idea in this way that in my idea of the project, there will be a website where these house women can present the pictures of their hand made clothes, kurtis and sweaters. From that website the buyers can purchase their stuff by paying 50% price in advance and remaining 50% cash on delivery. On the other hand the website owner (us) will act as a medium between buyers and sellers, and sellers have to pay 5% of their total earnings to the owner of the website each month. At the same time the website owner is responsible to pay sellers their price if any scam occurs i.e the website owner is also responsible for guaranteeing an scam free environment to both buyers and sellers.

Interviewing not only helped me refine my idea but also helped me to realize the importance of talking to the target market.

My experience was amazing and cannot be expressed in words as I am feeling myself as an “entrepreneur” who is trying to do something in the favor of that class which is often ignored i.e the house women.
