While doing the online course of “entrepreneurship” from AMAL teachable, I came across AMAL Totkay on developing a growth mindset.

There are two types of mindsets: growth and fixedness. Those having fixed mindset believes that talent and abilities of a person can not be developed and enhanced by practice and hard work, while people having growth mindset believes that the talents can be developed via hard work and practice.

A representation of fixed and growth mindset

Having a growth mindset is extremely necessary to succeed in all the fields of this world either the corporate sector or academic one.

The first TOTKA was “self-talk”, in order to develop a growth mindset it is necessary to talk to our self positively that we can do it!!!

Healthy self talk examples

The second TOTKA was to “get out of your comfort zone”, this is extremely necessary in order to achieve something bigger and better. One cannot get anything while staying in his/her comfort zone.

The third one was to “create new habits” , to upgrade our mind from fixed to growth. It is necessary to develop the habit of learning daily from each and every experience.

The fourth TOTKA was to “ask people for help”, feedback is the breakfast of champions so it is necessary to ask people about their thoughts regarding your changed attitude.

Feedback is essential

The fifth one was “fake it till you make it”, this was the most interesting one which stated that we should act as if we have a growth mindset until our fake act turns into a real one.

All of these five tips were amazing and urged me to look into the things with different perspectives.

My favorite tip was ‘self-talk”. I am a kind of negative person and I always used to degrade myself that I cannot achieve this or that. But now I am realizing how bad it is in the development of a growth mindset.

Therefore I have already started thinking in positive ways and will continue it InShaaAllah.

We should try to develop all of the above habits in order to shift from “Fixed” to “Growth” mindset and I am already trying to practice them all in my daily routine:)
